One known Fortnite leaker has suggested that next season's battle royale map will be an alternative version of the Chapter 1 island. The aforementioned skins were leaked by dataminers ahead of the beginning of Fortnitemares 2023, but others are starting to emerge as well. Fortnite leaks have been happening since the battle royale was released, with some seasons receiving more than others. Fortnitemares includes several nods to Halloween, with Jack Skellington and Michael Myers skins part of this year's offerings. Meaning until 1.6.3, Fortnite Battle Royale was paid for.Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 has just entered the annual Fortnitemares phase.

From September 12th to 26th, 2017, Battle Royale was paid for, as it came paired with Save The World as well.

The Battle Pass did not yet exist, nor did any cosmetics for that matter.
